The region RR between y=6x−x2y = 6x - x^2 and y=x2y = x^2

Let f(x)=6x−x2f(x) = 6x - x^2 and g(x)=x2g(x) = x^2. Let RR be the region enclosed by the graphs of ff and gg, as shown. No calculator is allowed on this question.

  1. (a) Find the area of RR. [2 points]

  2. (b) Find the volume of the solid generated when RR is revolved about the horizontal line y=−1y = -1. [3 points]

  3. (c) Region RR is the base of a solid. For this solid, each cross section perpendicular to the xx-axis is a semicircle whose diameter lies in RR. Write, but do not evaluate, an integral expression for the volume of the solid. [2 points]

  4. (d) Write, but do not evaluate, an integral expression for the volume of the solid generated when RR is revolved about the vertical line x=−1x = -1. (For 0≤x≤30 \le x \le 3, the graph of ff is also the graph of x=3−9−yx = 3 - \sqrt{9 - y}.) [2 points]
